How to read these records
What “amalgamated” means
Under the Companies Act, two or more companies can combine and continue as one. The others are removed from the register as separate companies, and their assets, contracts and records pass to the continuing company.
What the record does not say
The open file names the company that stopped existing, not the one that continues, and gives no date of amalgamation. The last annual return is the nearest indication of when the company was last active on its own.
What is not here
Names of directors or any individual. Sole proprietorships and partnerships. Companies in liquidation, struck off or dissolved.
